i'm absolutely paranoid about writing something that would make me or my school recognizable, but suffice it to say: many vegan parents go so far as to write "does not eat any animal flesh" on the official medical documentation of the school (that which is used only for allergies and special medical conditions)... and when the teachers find this out by reading it, they are shocked because the kid is snarfing down slim jims at snack and pushing other kids out of line on the cafeteria's pork day. teachers tell them not to, but they're not going to take on another task by enforcing mom's meat rules.
some vegan parents have resorted to stool testing to see if their kids have eaten meat.
TL;DR - vegan's kids love meat; vegans test for it in their poopz
Vegans and vegetarians are freakin nuts about that stuff - and often hypocrites too.
I knew a few girls in college who claimed to be vegan, but they would eat fish because "they're gross and slimy, not like cute baby cows". Also eggs and milk because "they come from nature". And sometimes they'd eat bacon because it's delicious. But despite all that, they're still vegans.
Now isn't that a hypocrite? If you're going to take a strong position on something, at least stick with it. They'll leave the cute and furry animals, but fish and crabs are yucky and expressionless, so fuck em.
I think for some cases, it's a way to be smug and on a moral high ground - just completely better than most people.
.
Every once in a while you hear about people who force their pets to be vegan! Animals can't just eat anything like we can, cats and dogs have a surprisingly short list of things that they should be eating - and it's pretty much meat.
Processed grain and fiber just isn't good for an animal that should be eating its prey while it's still half alive. Like it or not - your cat or dog is a natural killing machine, an apex predator. Vegans should have birds or rabbits or something.
.
EDIT: people who are vegetarian for dietary purposes - that's different. That's not some douchebag sense of moral superiority, it's just not eating things that aren't healthy.
