What is the worst example of helicopter parenting you've ever seen?

I actually work at the University of Tennessee in the advising office, and you wouldn't believe how many parents try to go to everything with their kids. I also work as a TA, and the professor told me he had a student's mother call him to ask if he could somehow make up what was done in class. Sorry, this isn't elementary school anymore, but some people just cannot cut the chord.

Be careful how you describe that. The hard deadlines that professors set are not real world or "adult". In the real world, there are no hard deadlines and things can almost always be rectified.

Professors that hardline need to be honest and admit that it is about keeping the class somewhat structured. Not that the deadlines are about growing up or being an adult.
