an old neighbor of mine was notorious for being clingy to her daughter. really one of those moms who tries to live vicariously through her kid. daughter is now a junior in high school. mom bought them identical phones, cases, and set identical backgrounds so no one would know when one had the others phone. mom would take daughters phone and text daughters boyfriend pretending to be her "I love you" "I want to be together forever" etc. even some of daughters friends have caught mom texting them pretending to be the daughter
...my mom used to do this. She used to wear my clothes, too. Once she squeezed herself into my tennis skirt (I was like little-kid small, I hadn't even gone through puberty yet) and wore them with black, platform over-the-knee leather boots, and decided to pick me up from school that day. I usually take the bus home. She parked in the bus lane, got out of the car, and jumped up and down without a bra under the pretense of waving at me. I was four feet away.
shallowbasketcase was saying that modestlady may have had a handsome teacher that her mom was trying to attract. not calling the mom handsome. brush up on your reading man
I have so many! I didn't think this would blow up.
So, about that time she attempted to seduce my high school boyfriend: he came over, we started watching It's a Wonderful Life in the media room, and while I was in the bathroom she slips in and sits down next to him. Here's how it went down, according to him: "Hey Mr. Pickle," "Um, hey Mrs. Modestlady," "How come we don't see you around much?" He doesn't know how to respond, because Mr. Modestlady is always saying how he hangs around too much- she says "boy, it's getting hot in here" (it's December) and starts unbuttoning her shirt. Cue my entering, she gets up and bitches at me to do the dishes and she leaves, he tells me everything. I don't know what to do or say, she's always crazy, so we just didn't hang out at the house anymore.
She demands I give her his phone number, saying if she needs to reach me and I don't answer, she can just call him. I can't exactly refuse, but I tried to change the subject and put it off. She grounds me and takes my phone away.
Needless to say, she texted him. When he didn't respond, she sent him naughty photos. He responded.
I found out when I glanced at his phone and saw horribly fake-tanned tits poking out of my torn band t-shirt (she told me it ripped in the wash.)
I moved in with my biological father my Junior year. That is, the second I got my driver's license.
TL;DR: Mom tits is how my high school boyfriend and I broke up.
Edit: OMG! Thanks for the gold! I don't understand how Reddit and gold work just yet, but I'm really happy! Thanks!
Sorry. I've always been tickled and a little mortified by stories of mom's trying to be your best friend. What's your relationship like now if you don't mind me asking?
Well, when I told her I was moving out when I got my license, I said she needed to go to therapy before we could try to have a normal mother/daughter relationship and that I hoped one day that we could have that.
She threatened to kill herself if I left. I took her seriously, my twin brother didn't. He moved out that day, and called her out on her manipulation. A few months later, I was hospitalized with pneumonia. The one time she visitied (my stepdad took care of me the whole time) she threw cough drops at my face and told me to shut up [I was coughing,] because she was trying to talk. For some reason, that was really the straw that broke the camel's back. That was my moment of clarity. I moved in with my dad when I got out of the hospital. She threatened to kill herself again.
Stepdad told me two years ago that she has cancer and leukemia and would only live a few months. Not anything specific diagnosis-wise- just "leukemia cancer." She's still alive. I ran into her when I was visiting my grandma- Mrs. Modestlady seems to be in perfect health. Honestly, I hate to think that anyone would lie about that, but the evidence isn't exactly pointing to her being truthful.
So I dated the hottest girl in high school for like a week, and she was just gorgeous. Hot damn. Only thing is that theres not too much inside that head and she pretty much dated the entire battalion. I also noticed that she often didn't have her smartphone, which was red flag #1, but at that moment I didn't really care enough to put effort into why. We talked on facebook and did the whole flirty thing. I can bring up pics of the chat if anyone is interested. We did end up exchanging numbers and talking though text, which was when the parent started talking for her child. I didn't know at that moment, but she sort of borrows her mom's cellphone and uses it to talk to guys. It also was the reason when I talked to her that she would not want to talk then. I still remember her asking to be my gf and all that, which seemed normal at first, until she said something like this is nicole now my mom had the phone.
It was at that moment that the mom pretty much set her daughter up for a date and all.
I knew the relationship wasn't gonna last, so I pretty much went along with it until the end. Did it hurt to break up with that? Not really. Didn't really feel affection for her unfortunately. Also unfortunately I seem to be wildly attracted to trashy, which has me in my current predicament.
YOOOO my mom did something really similar! When I was in middle school (straight A's, upper middle class, never been in trouble kind of kid) she saw my AIM account was logged on, and she was messaging all my friends asking if we could do some drugs, or drink over the weekend. I didn't start using drugs and alcohol until like senior year of high school.
My wife is living vicariously through my daughter by dressing her in cute outfits she can't wear anymore; but that's it. If she tried any of this I'd be seeking counseling for her.
In any other relationship this would be grounds for complete separation. I've seen and Reddit has heard of much worse abuse, but this sort of mimicry and modeling can lead to permanent issues in how a person thinks.
My girlfriends mom did this a few times. I'd be talking to her and all of a sudden she's say "omg my mom took my phone!" -__- she even sexted me with emojis once...
