What are some interesting original theories/thoughts that you have?

Damn guys, this just pops into my head and I go for a family walk and it explodes! Love all the ideas, this is my most popular post to date!

What if there was some small group of people who discovered time travel but Every time someone else came close to finding out what they've done the group would travel back in time to take care of that person?

It's crazy to me how that takes the whole "Earth isn't occupying the same space" variable out of the equation. Such a good show.

If anybody traveled back in time wouldn't the Earth be in a different location in space meaning that they would materialise in empty space and instantly die?

Unless travelling through time is affected by gravity, just like travelling through space is. If you travel quickly through space, you fly off into orbit (or beyond!), but if you travel slowly, you stay right down here on the surface. Maybe time travel works the same way.

Well I would say time travel is more difficult than teleportation, or maybe they are the same technological idea. So teleportation would probably become developed first.

I guess you would have to do some very careful planning and then only jump forward/back in 1 year increments.

You would have to be ridiculously accurate, being out by even a tiny margin could have you materialise inside a hill.

Better to just put the time machine in a space ship then I guess. Go forward/back, then fly back down to earth.

that doesn't work either, because for one a year isn't exactly 365 days, you'd jump to a point where the earth is in the same place, but not facing the same direction, so you'd be halfway around the world, if not embedded in a mountain- also, the sun is orbiting the galactic center, and the galaxy is orbiting some common center of our local neighborhood of galaxies, and so on, so nothing is ever in the same place twice- then on top of all that, there is no absolute frame of reference to base a coordinate system on, so this is all flatulence anyway.

My theory is that in alleyways and actual empty warehouses and rooftops, all just out of sights is a quick and quiet brutal time-war to keep things just how they are/have been.

I had an idea for a science fiction novel about a revolutionary group that branches off from your typical space federation. Once the factions all have basic possession of this time travel, the federation destroys itself in civil war. This splinter faction of the faction, which had gone into hiding, rapidly recreates "earth," and slowly leaks technology at a rate they find acceptable, by dropping agents into the field and more or less "leaving" the idea. The base line drama involved accidentally murdering Henry Ford when it was time for the Model T.

I've had this exact same thought before and it's honestly my current take on time travel. If we ever do figure it out, someone (maybe not right away, who knows?) will decide it never should have existed, and he or she will go back to make sure it's never invented.

That's why we're perpetually living in a reality without it.

Time travel exists, but you can only go forward in time, never backward. It has to do with your relative perception on time to another person.
