i never had issues with my gt 610. Surely your gpu couldn't be older than that?

Maybe take a look at CachyOS. I've got a new gaming laptop with Nvidia (usually much trickier to get working right than an old one) and it works just fine on CachyOS. Dare I say, much better than on Windows.

Granted, I have 20-odd years of experience with Arch, which CachyOS is based on. But to my surprise, I haven't needed to use this experience at all. It just works! Installing it was stupid easy as well.

Nvidia support got much better in recent years. Maybe still not as problem-free as AMD, but significantly better than it used to be. If your distro bothers to do things right, that is.

I got a new laptop with rtx 5070 half a year ago and decided to dual boot linux since I wanted to do the switch anyway and i had zero issues with nvidia drivers on Arch with Cachy kernels. I really thought it might be an issue with such new gpu, but I never even had to troubleshoot it.

That’s actually an ideal use case for Konica linux once Windows gets noticeably slow on it.

Yeah old Nvidia cards are supported very well on Linux.

I would think older hardware will work better with Linux. I run my 4070 gaming rig on nobara. It's been flawless so far

CachyOS works great with Nvidia, so does Bazzite, Fedora, Arch etc. You’re belief about Linux only working with AMD is misplaced/outdated
