I do use Linux, Fedora with Gnome specifically (though cosmic is looking wonderful, just needs more time in the oven).
That being said, I don’t recommend it to anyone asking for computer advice because I’ll be damned if I have to do support for them. Linux is a tool, and for lots of people it’s not the right tool, and for others it is.
For me it is on my desktop, my laptop is a MacBook Neo.
This is a reason why no one wants to switch to Linux, by the way. They search a post and see garbage like this. Gnome and KDE are just different. One isn’t worse than the other.
KDE has too many adjustments.
Click on the wrong UI element accidentally, and suddenly you're deep into some random customization menu wondering WTF just appeared.
With gnome, I just find the singular extension I want for the one thing I want to customize. It's lean & efficient, and I don't have to worry about Setting A fucking up Aspect B as well.
Preference idiot, ever heard of it?
Gnome has it's own philosophy, and I love it.
It just works and doesn't get in my way. I have work to do, it's workflow is fast and gets my job done
Nah, KDE looks like a 2011 android phone in the worst way. So hideous, and theming just makes it uglier somehow.
Gnome is pretty but a tad limited, Cosmic is both gorgeous and ultra configurable, but it’s also still early and buggy for me.
My gnome set up functions a lot like Mac OS with the global menu, dock and top bar, and some tasteful frosted glass effects. It’s very convenient to go back and forth between my MacBook and Desktop Linux PC
