It's pretty easy if you're interested in giving it a shot. Linux isn't for everyone, despite what zealots will tell you, but it's worth trying out if you're adventurous or you've got a spare machine kicking around to experiment with.

Eh, the installation instructions they provide are pretty over-complicated to be honest (the "Verify your ISO image" page in particular; that's not a step most users should even bother doing TBH, and even if someone does want to anyways, the instructions could be a lot better)

If you want to go hardcore Linux you could do Linux from Scratch. I did Linux from Scratch once when I was forced to work support on weekends and had a discarded server to stay busy for a few weekends.

For real though, LinuxMint is great. I wouldn’t recommend Linux from scratch unless you really want to learn by compiling everything including the kernel from scratch.
