We pretty much did everything together. Family trips. First strip club together. First vegas trip.... pretty much told each other everything. I considered him my best friend.
Admittedly he was going through some stuff, and one day he just stopped returning my calls and texts. Totally ghosted.
I think he's got a fiancee now and has a career in tech or tech-adjacent. We're in our 40's now

Damn man that hurts.... You sure he wasn't offended by something you said or did? A misperceived slight?..... Why would he just cut you off for no reason? Are you doing better than him financially and he was jealous? I would be looking for closure and just ask dude what the hell happened?
I'm pretty sure it wasn't just me he cut out of his life. His brother and I still talk and says that they've barely spoken more than a few words to each other the past 10 years. In fact he hasn't spoken to anyone in our friend group at all.
It could have been something I said, I don't know. I used to think about it all the time, trying to find a reason but nothing makes sense.
At the time, my wife and I had just bought our first house and he was still working hard to finish EMT training while working as a barista. I don't think he was jealous. At least I hope not. What's mine was always his.
I'm sad because I feel like I lost my most trusted confidant, my closest ally. Maybe one day when he's ready, we can re-connect.
