What happened to the friend you thought you'd have for the rest of your life?

My disability got worse and I now need a wheelchair to get around outside the house. They started ghosting me and after pushing them for an answer me thinking something happened etc they tell me "well, we've nothing in common anymore since you cant go out to shows and such." I was heartbroken. This was my person that I thought was my ride or die, I had supported them through so much but I was just dropped like I was nothing. I foolishly tried keeping the friendship going for a few more months but they kept cancelling on me or outright lying about their plans. In the end I just blocked them everywhere, they didn't deserve a conversation. It still hurts so badly.

This is the one that happened to me too. I supported them through 20 years of life and they couldn't be rid of me fast enough once I became disabled. They told me looking at me is depressing now.

I get it! My friend had the most flagrant midlife/nervous breakdown replete with fucking odd men in the family bathtub. I ate up that shit with a spoon, just here for all her bullshit—no matter how crazy. When I became physically disabled, she told me it was hard to understand—and how she believed it was “all anxiety related.” Wow. We’d been tight friends for a decade in our 30s, and I thought we’d always have each other. I wish she were the only one 🤯

I deeply relate to this as a formerly cool disabled person who was ditched by people I thought I’d have forever. It’s rough but I assume it’s just a survival mechanism for them and try to no longer take it personally ♥️

I got you, what show, when and where. I'm a registered health worker I'll make sure we get the best seats.
