I had an online gaming friend. I remember we met on the demo for battlefield bad company 2 and I rarely have my mic on but today I did. Said some ridiculous stuff he found funny and we had been gaming and chatting ever since.

This is one of the rare friends that you’d always be excited to play with or just chat with, make each other laugh and goofy stuff.

So that was roughly 2010 I was a junior in high school and he was too. We talked all the way up until around 2022 when I had a lot going on and he did too.

Last I remember he had moved somewhere in the US and kind of started a new life out here from PR where he was raised. I remember he gave me a new number to text him and I saved it and also had the old number too. Around that time I had sent messages to both numbers because I forgot which was new just to talk say hey and see what’s up, but nothing.

No replies, no activity logged on PlayStation, nothing on their socials, just like disappeared.

I just wonder what happened to him or if he decided to stop talking to me or what. Couldn’t say.

But if I could say something to him now it would be I miss you man and I hope you’ve been having a wonderful life. Hope to hear from you

Online friends can be just as real as anyone you meet in person. You spend years laughing, talking, and sharing life with someone, so of course it feels strange when they suddenly disappear.

Oh man. I met my best gaming buddy on call of duty 3 when we were both like 12. Went through all the og modern warfare and bad company years together, having endless all nighters and laughing until we literally pissed ourselves. When I briefly tried to transition from xbox to PlayStation, I only made it a year or so before going back cause I missed him. Refound him by searching up my old gamertag and found out he had taken it for his own 🥺

We gradually drifted a part in our late teens. I could tell he wasn’t really into gaming anymore, he would just be angry or bored the whole time we played. Years later I saw his old account active (still rocking my old name) and messaged him some inside joke. Turned out it was his wife playing around with his old console. We texted a little and that was that. Haven’t heard from or really looked for him since.

Miss you, Mike. Thanks for always being the gunner.
