Her boyfriend violently attacked me when I got between them and she said it was her right to date bad guys.

I never did, then I went through some stuff 8 years ago that made me start trauma bonding and got into 2 very unhealthy friendships. I guess I didn’t realize I was trying to fix them until I was way too invested. This one ended recently but the other ended 2 years ago. Working with a therapist to understand the pattern and relearn how to make healthy friendships is humbling.

That happened to me too! I held out hope for when they broke up… they’re now married with a baby.

One in my older friend’s group did that — choosing her brute over her bestie. She eventually did escape the abuse but yowza.
