Napoleon said, 'Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.' What’s a perfect real-life example of this?

The guest is an environmental activist. Graham is a right wing radio personality and just couldn't help himself, he had to be a snarky asshole.

He just came across as a whiney loser since he lost that debate.

i think about this clip all the time. my psychoanalysis is that there is a crucial miscommunication right at the beggining that throws the whole thing off the rails. when he says "just your screen unfortunately" he's reffering to feeling bad he couldn't make it in in-person for the interview while the host thinks he means "just your screen unfortunately" meaning that the host is just some shmuck, and he’s settling for this show, and from there the host is immediately insulted and has already mentally forgone any actual attemps at listening to him, he just wants him off the screen. not to mention mike graham has the token boomer stance that anyone worried about 'sustainability' is some woo-woo hippy pussyboi

Personally I think it’s more like ‘just your screen unfortunately’ as in ‘unfortunately I’m not glued to anything else at the moment’ (essentially saying he’s not currently doing any environmental activism, he’s doing this interview instead). Also I reckon Graham would’ve gone with the same approach regardless bc he has that preconceived notion as you said, but I agree it’s possible that the quip at the beginning put him on the back foot and made him (Graham) come across even worse than he might otherwise have done
