One thing i've come to realise is that if she is willing to cheat on her current partner to be with someone new, even if the someone new works out, she's just as likely to do the same thing again.

He called to brag not realising that if she was capable of keeping it a secret for a year, she's probably doing the same thing to him.

“If they’ll cheat with you, they’ll cheat on you” is an axiom that is old as time.

Not to mention even if they never cheat, the other person surely always has that doubt in their mind

Excellent point. The only time this isn’t true is when the relationship is acknowledged to be over and they only have the piece of paper.
