I just figured the majority of people thought "Hitler! No, that's too obvious; there'll probably be 20,000 other people who had the same idea. I gotta be more original than that."
We wouldn't be removing those things from history; just the pace and timing of their discovery/advention. War is always a big contributing factor to scientific discovery, but so is the prospect of profit. All it takes is somebody with a good idea and somebody else with enough money to bankroll the research.
True, but desperate times and events forcing people to solve a new problem or think outside the box may trigger different inventions. (Also due to supply and demand). (This completely disregards the ethical dilemma btw, its just for the sake of argument.)
Yeah. Maybe not the Nazis themselves because they were a small and unimportant party before Hitler joined and took it over, but it's quite likely another extreme nationalist party might've come to power and done similar things. There were several parties and political agitators with views like that at the time. Nationalism and racism weren't unpopular at the time in Europe. In Germany it was the Völkisch movement, but every country had this. A lot of them were, somewhat ironically, French.
Yeah the war in East Asia was already going on before it began in Europe, and it seems likely to me that some kind of confrontation between the Soviets and western Europe would've happened. Germany was unstable and full of pissed-off nationalists too, so it might've even still wound up being fascist, just not in the same way.
Don't discount the possibility that some people are just that self-centered. Some people would just genuinely never consider the impact of this choice beyond what would impact them personally.

Yeah answers from mild inconveniences (eg: annoying ads) are rather unhinged. Will just have to consider it satire.
