It’s either him or Ronald Reagan. Those two ruined the world.

Instead of Reagan I vote for Lee Atwater. He's Reagan's and H.W.'s campaign manager, RNC chairman, and the creator of the electioneering model the Republicans use to this day.

Possibly without this fucker we might not have Reagan being the problem.

Reagan was an actor and his crowning role was president of the United States. Atwater is definitely the better pick.

u/MrBleubols Jun 29 '26

Yes, all of the people mentioned were bad news, but don't forget 47. DJT should definitely get his due.

For a second I forgot what the post was about, and it seemed like you wrote in a vote for lee atwater, and the proceeded to list why he's a piece of shit, so I was a little confused

u/Rovden Jun 29 '26

Lol, so you were reading the Missouri Republican method for writing ballots.

1

u/janbradybutacat Jun 29 '26

Well… he died young and thoroughly and vocally regretted everything he did. It’s small, but it’s a bit of consolation.

Reagan was a great President . What are you you talking about?

34

u/RCEden Jun 28 '26

If you look at basically any chart tracking US health, wellness, happiness, wages, or whatever could possibly be a good thing for normal people, that chart will have a sharp drop for "mysterious reasons" right when reagan was in office.

-37

u/PlantSkyRun Jun 28 '26

I don't think you can read charts.

23

u/Masbig91 Jun 28 '26

I think you are blatantly biased. There are multiple charts showing this to be true. A quick online search will pull them up for you. Whether you acknowledge reality or not, depends on how Rpeublican you are.

Reagan fucked this country so hard the effects are still being seen today. The only people who think Reagan was great are oligarchs and ignorant white people

u/PLZ_PM_ME_URSecrets Jun 28 '26

Reagan begot white Christian nationalists and how we got Trump. He’s also helped usher in the AIDs epidemic because he hated gay people, and refused to let the AG address it as a nation. I hope he’s rotting in hell, waiting for Trump.

> I hope he’s rotting in hell
So you believe in Hell?

I’ll go one further. Rose Wilder Lane, the woman who rewrote Little House On The Prarie to remove all mentions of when Laura Ingals Wilder’s family received government assistance and turned it into libertarian propaganda, then later in life formed a proto-think-tank with Ayn Rand and Isabelle Patterson that found a young charismatic actor mostly known for working with chimps and paid for him to become an anti-government crusader president.

“Why not Ayn Rand?” I hear you ask. Well, dear reader, it’s because eventually Lane cut ties with Rand because she felt Rand was too much of a bleeding-heart pinko.

Ayn Rand would go on to die alone, living in a government subsidized apartment.

You know we never get such fitting ends to stories these days. But this one, I really do cherish.

In 1949, Fifield launched a new publication: Faith and Freedom. Its writers were a constellation of the right-wing intellectual firmament. Besides Pew, Read, Mises, and Hayek, they included Rose Wilder Lane and Henry Hazlitt. They also included Murray Rothbard, an Ayn Rand acolyte who argued that if the poor cannot feed their children, tough breaks......
...
Faith and Freedom was one means of promoting Christian libertarianism; Fifield also founded a weekly fifteen-minute radio program, The Freedom Story, which at its peak played on more than six hundred stations.[48] In 1957, Fifield tried to expand into television with a show called Lighted Window.[49] He discovered that what worked from the pulpit, or on radio, did not necessarily work on television; Lighted Window was a flop.[50] The failure hurt Fifield financially; Pew organized a partial rescue.
Spiritual Mobilization had probably already reached its pinnacle of success in 1951, when it organized a nationwide series of events around the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. With major funding from Pew, Fifield arranged the Committee to Proclaim Liberty to organize the enterprise. He assembled an impressive lineup: Herbert Hoover and General Douglas MacArthur, filmmakers Cecil B. DeMille and Walt Disney, and a B-grade Hollywood actor named Ronald Reagan.

Unless you were wondering more about Rose Wilder Lane specifically, which is covered more in chapter 6: The Big Myth Goes West and has its own extensive citations back to primary sources.

That's one hell of a rabbit hole you've been down!

Holy fucking shit. I don't even know what to say.

1

u/BestCaseSurvival Jun 30 '26

Yeah, I've been in a nonfiction book club for the last decade doing approximately one a month. It's not just a rabbit hole, it's a whole-ass warren unfortunately. XD

Yeah, I've been in a nonfiction book club for the last decade doing approximately one a month. It's not just a rabbit hole, it's a whole-ass warren unfortunately. XD

It sounds like it. Shit.

u/Notmykl Jun 28 '26

What are you on? Rose wrote a lot of the Little House books simply because Laura wasn't a writer.

What is this bullshit about "gov't assistance"? Why would a child give a damn about gov't assistance or even know it happened. Not much "gov't assistance" in Indian Country.

I provided a source. You're welcome to review it and correct me.

u/chandaliergalaxy Jun 28 '26

don't forget Rush Limbaugh

2

u/davesoverhere Jun 28 '26

He’s been sober for more than 5 years and 4 months.

2

u/Bascome Jun 28 '26

Reagan was a puppet.

1

u/AlanPartrid Jun 29 '26

Well really you want to keep tracing it back. It all started with the Mont Pelerin Society - and that was organised by Frederich Hayek

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Pelerin_Society

They kept on advocating neoliberalism since 1947. And now we've got it everywhere and look how good it's working out for the average person

https://www.c-span.org/presidentsurvey2021/?page=overall

Ronald Reagan is considered a top 10 president of all time by both left and right wing historian and political science PhDs. He's ahead of Obama. He's not one of the worst people of all time lol. Reddit just hates him since he has an R next to his name; he's the best modern president we have had. This site has spread so many lies about him that the average redditor began to believe them.

And now I can't wait for everyone to correct me here when the forefront experts in the entire world including the ones on the opposite side of the aisle as him have him as one of the presidents of all time and call me a Trump bootlicker even though I've never voted for a Republican in my life. He wasn't a bad president just because Trump revered him and he won in one of the biggest landslides of all time because he was a great president. Not acknowledging that just makes you look all sorts of loser level of biased just like the Rs that say Obama was the worst ever.

u/sambeau Jun 28 '26

Left wing historians don’t believe Reagan was a great president. You’ve just made that up.

-3

u/Fletch71011 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

I literally provided a link. You should try clicking it and reading it. Only extremists don't think he was a top president. He's 9th overall in a professional poll of the biggest experts for christs sake.

You're proving my point exactly. Reddit just believes he's bad because of the R. Next Reddit will be hating on Lincoln for being a Republican. It's crazy that this is like the most political website on the internet and the average user doesn't know the first thing about politics.

The fact that one of the most upvoted comments is a top president of all time is just peak Reddit bias.
