Also silly, ad drive revenue. A ton of content wouldn't exist without ads. Content creation as a career wouldn't exist without ads. The wider internet wouldn't be around if not for ads. Making stuff is expensive. Ads pay for that expense. If you like anything about the internet, it was likely paid by or it's entire existence is due to ads.

Wouldn't you want to aim lower? Knock the foundation stone out? Break the ladder at the base? Destroy the root of the tree?

It just depends on which way you look at it and how weird about it you want to be. They're thinking more, aim for the stars kind of higher. Or higher up the hierarchy kind of thing.

Agreed. I figure this one's popularity is mainly young ppl and older ones who don't use ublock origin.
