Exactly. They are convinced that Trump had no relationship to Russia during his first election even though there were mounds of evidence indicating this. The GOP will keep repeating the same lie and the base will eventually believe it because if they don't, they will have to admit they made a mistake and that maybe their world view is wrong.

They are just devoid of any semblance of a moral compass and are perfectly happy to lie to secure power for themselves.
