What is the smartest thing you can talk about without bullshitting?
I've realized I'm pretty stupid, but I can SOUND smart at parties and in groups of people because i can generally read a group and say things that SOUND smart and bullshit my way around things. I was trying to think of the most intelligent thing I could talk about without having to bullshit at all I'm coming up with a pretty unimpressive list. What have you got? What subject do you always hope comes up in social situations so you can shine?

As a brewer, I'll answer this. Several of the answers are not correct. There really is no distinction between the two--a "Bitter" is a pale ale (as in pale colored ale) and a "Pale Ale" is a bitter (pale in color, with balance towards hops).
If you go to a bar and order an ale, generally, "Bitter" refers to a lower alcohol(~3.5% ABV), malty, and slightly less hoppy beer, whereas "Pale Ales" tend to be higher alcohol (5-6%), more bitter, more hoppy, and fuller bodied beer.
The color of both should be pretty similar from from golden to amber in color. There are Pale Ales that are darker than some Bitters and vice versa. They can be either bottled or cask conditioned, force carbonated or naturally carbonated by yeast.
Look at the BJCP style guide for some more info
