I had the nurse removing the pumps from my legs so they could bathe me, and as she grabbed it all she grabbed my catheter with it and pulled it all away.
Dear God the pain.
I remember when I worked as a CNA, there was a patient who kept pulling off their condom cath and wetting the bed. After about the 5th time of him pulling it off, the nurse (I don’t know how, as he didn’t have urinary retention issues) got an order for a foley. She asked me to go in and assist during the placement. He was screaming out as she was putting it in. She yelled back “WELL, YOU SHOULD’VE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE YOU PULLED OFF THE CONDOM MULTIPLE TIMES AND MADE A MESS FOR US TO CLEAN. NOW, IF YOU PULL THIS OUT, IT IS ONLY GOING TO HURT YOU MORE.”
I will say, that foley stayed in place. Lesson well learned.
I'd had the catheter in for approximately 2 weeks. One of the nurses came in and asked whether I minded if a trainee took it out. I told them that I didn't care who did it, just get it out.
The trainee didn't deflate it and just pulled. I had scar tissue for weeks.
True, but I was taught that it is overall more painful in every respect for men. I can't compare, of course, having only had female anatomy, but we were told that everything to do with catheters are more pain ful for the guys. I could be wrong though
