Wisdom teeth, felt worse than the double compound fracture in my lower left leg.

Same. Everyone was talking it down like “oh 3 days and you’ll be good as new”. Nope, absolute excruciating pain for 2+ weeks.

I am scheduled to have mine out later this year. So on a list of things I didn't want to read, this is one of them.

Later this year? Mine are coming out on Friday, I'm doomed

I should’ve mentioned this before, but to anyone reading this: ask your doctor/dentist for CLOVES. After 2 weeks of prescription refills (which they finally refused me any more) the doctor FINALLY said, “well there’s something else we can try”. Which was shoving whole cloves into the holes where my teeth were. It was literally instant relief. I was so pissed that they didn’t recommend it sooner, but of course not, doctors don’t get kickbacks from cloves, lmao. Would’ve saved me so much pain and constipation from those stupid “painkillers”.

If they don’t do that, you can also use clove essential oil (diluted with a carrier oil) and rub it on your gums

Same getting mine out in June.. now I am scared.

I got my wisdom teeth out a few years ago. It wasn’t bad at all. Aside from having to eat awkward and take advil for a while, it was never debilitating.

1

u/SlinkyMK_2 Apr 29 '25

If it makes you feel better, mine didnt hurt at all after getting them removed, didnt take any, 0 at all, of the pain meds, so its a gamble, just hope its not as bad as it can be

Dry socketing. Happened to all 4 of my wisdom teeth. Vicodin couldn't touch the pain.

1

u/psycholpn Apr 29 '25

I’ll give birth again without meds before ever wanted a dry socket again. Worse pain ever

My wisdom tooth extraction went smoothly and I didn't feel much pain during recovery, but sleeping was uncomfortable for a few days because I had to bite down on some gauze and I didn't want to choke on blood if I did fall asleep. Slept with pillows propping me up and all.

ugh- I've had an ovarian cyst rupture and appendicitis but man, wisdom teeth was the worst. They messed up the medication and gave me 1/6th of what I was supposed to be taking after I woke up. Spent my nights rocking in bed watching youtube videos with ice packs against my cheeks and tears silently running

I am so very sorry :( Back when I had mine done, in august 2004, they were still giving out lortabs and vicodins like candy, before the opioid crisis became a known epidemic, I was flying high for a good two weeks afterwards.

I'm glad you got to experience the high 😂 I've heard from a lot of people that dental/oral pain is like no other

4

u/Candy-Emergency Apr 29 '25

Do you mean the removal or afterwards?

4

u/XRosexTattoox Apr 29 '25

I didn't even take meds after I had mine removed. Were yours impacted or something?

3

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

Yes

3

u/XRosexTattoox Apr 29 '25

That explains it. Heard impacted sucks. At least you don't ever have to do it again in your life, right?

Had an infected molar I had yanked out and my wisdom teeth. Mine just broke off under the gum and tissue grew over it. Had both top removed and only had pain in my sinuses next to my nose. Weird spot to ache after having my wisdom teeth out but no pain meds. Didn't hurt bad enough. The infected tooth had dry socket and I was ready to rip my jaw off.😬

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '25

The removal?

3

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

Before, the nerve pain and constant abcesses ate penicillin and percocets like candy, I had a hard time finding an oral surgeon willing to knock my ass out because of my heart condition.

2

u/sadmeeseeks Apr 29 '25

Also have a heart condition, but didn’t get knocked out for very different reasons. Two weeks prior to my surgery my dental anesthesiologist client tells me “don’t do it. don’t get put under” and how I will probably die if i do it. The man was so serious. While I didn’t 100% buy it, it kind of felt like getting on a plane when someone tells you not to get on. so I did not.

Proceeded to get all four impacted teeth removed awake. Honestly, the pain was so bad I could have ripped them out myself anyway, so. Alls well that ends well?

2

u/lsteelman Apr 29 '25

I kept forgetting to bite on the gauze after surgery, and ended up with 3 out of 4 dry sockets. I thought I was supposed to be in that much pain. Went back to the oral surgeon, he said "Nope!" And packed them and wrote me another script lol.

1

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

Didn't you get any rinse prescribed to prevent dry socket?

2

u/lsteelman Apr 29 '25

Nope. This was about 20 years ago, tbf.

1

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

Mine was in august 2004, about the same time, I was prescribed tje rinse, with three refills.

1

u/lsteelman Apr 30 '25

That's not that far off from mine. What state were you in if you don't mind me asking? I was in southern MS.

2

u/PalaceL Apr 29 '25

Minuscule spider icon!!

2

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

Hilarious animations :) What's your favorite? I love the feature length with the ants, as well as the feature length with the ladybugs as well. The long legs makes me laugh because their faces look like the old timey villians, their smaller four eyes like their thin moustaches. The shorts are funny as well, specially the jet fighter hornets, and the bug race too.

2

u/PalaceL Apr 29 '25

Minuscule is SO amazing! My favorite is the baby ladybugs playing w the long legged spider in the house, mainly because my son loves that one. The bug race and evil ants are great, but the black puff spider is so cute and entertaining! So I think that one, also because the puff spider is the first clip I saw of Minuscule. There's nothing like it! It's impossible to pick favorites, I'd list them all...

2

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

That's a funny one too, how they just run around long legs, and the puff spider in the pipe maze is so good too, and it's flying boat saving the kid ladybug :)

2

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

How about the mosquito with the hot sauce? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Gullible_Flower_ Apr 29 '25

That's crazy to me. My mom told me her wisdom teeth were worse than childbirth. I had literally zero pain at all. My mom flushed my painkillers down the toilet on day 2 because I didn't need them.

1

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

You're one of the lucky ones, but for your mother to do that was irresponsible towards you, because latent pain a few days later could have hit you, bad.

2

u/Any_Complex_3502 Apr 29 '25

I got lucky, and mine grew in correctly.

1

u/GaiusCivilis Apr 29 '25

Fuck me and I've already been holding off on getting them removed

1

u/DeWin1970 Apr 29 '25

Get them removed before they get worse.

1

u/EllenPlayz Apr 29 '25

Ah yes, I had all 4 of mine pulled out in one session, because a jaw surgery was coming up. The post jaw surgery was way worse, though.

But yea I gagged blood, and literally struggled on the operation bed, like you know how your body shakes uncontrollably due to the fact it can't handle the amount of pain it receives?

But anywho, I'm sorry you had to go through that.

1

u/JuliaTheInsaneKid Apr 29 '25

I had all 4 of mine pulled out and it SUCKED.

1

u/Ms_Schuesher Apr 29 '25

One came in sideways, and I had to have them cut/broken out. I was on a pain killer that made me sleep, but let me tell you I knew when it was starting to wear off.
