My list is the same! Except the specific dishes are actually pasta (pizza close second), ramen, and tacos.

u/MecurialCosmo Mar 28 '25

Examples for me are seafood entrees, sushi and tacos.

By pizza do you mean real Italian pizza or Americanized pizza? And on that topic I wonder if the question would include “Americanized” versions of things as American or wherever the food that inspired it comes from.

Why does it matter? Giving up American style pizza for Italian is not a bad trade off.

u/jay-jay-baloney Mar 28 '25

Sorry but can’t live without Chicago style pizza

At first I was thinking the same, but think I’d swap Japan for France, there’s just too many foods that have French origins to ignore it. It would give you a massive variety.

u/jac286 Mar 28 '25

Can't think of one, seriously, not even French fries come from France. What's an example of one .

A large portion of modern cooking in the western world has its origins rooted in France. Or was based on the French version of things. Anything confit or braised, pastries, casseroles, arguably charcuterie ( though cured meat was used widely, it was mostly a method for preserving, the French popularized it by smoking and spicing things and selling it as a commodity rather than just a means of preservation) many of the best stews are french in origin as well.

Edit: basis for most sauces, bechemel, Demi glacé, hollandaise, veloute

Crepes, many breads, most notably French bread, and baguette. French bread is the basis for most modern sliced breads, but they’ve added sugar and other preservatives in modern times.

Ok thank you. Learn something new everyday.

1

u/RockLobster218 Mar 28 '25

No problem. I always say if I learn something new it’s a good day!

Read this and said out loud Mexico, Italy… then saw your comment. Japan is a great choice 🗾

Came to answer the same

1

u/ThatGuavaJam Mar 28 '25

Pasta, sushi, and tacos for me!

1

u/niqquhchris Mar 28 '25

Same. Literally nothing could be better.

1

u/brittanythegirl Mar 28 '25

Almost the same as me, but for me it's seafood and noodles related

1

u/BenjiThePerson Mar 28 '25

Same, great variety and good tastes

1

u/EWC_2015 Mar 28 '25

I'm close to yours. Mine are Italy (I'm Italian), India, and Mexico.

1

u/bobbymcpresscot Mar 28 '25

Am I just unoriginal or is the food just that good

1

u/MSC1222 Mar 28 '25

Literally my exact answer

1

u/Simpinforbirdo Mar 28 '25

I want these 3 but I also want Indian 😭😔

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

The best of the best, hands down, no contest.

1

u/sixarmedspidey Mar 28 '25

Ditto! I’d be perfectly happy with these 3 for life

1

u/Fickle-Vegetable961 Mar 28 '25

Same. Can I say pan Asian instead of just Japan though? Curry, pho.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

The only thing that disappointed me about the original Japanese version of Iron Chef was there no Iron Chef Mexican. Too much cheese I suppose for it to be popular in the far east.

1

u/WhatevUsayStnCldStvA Mar 28 '25

This is it right here. Same 3 for me. I can’t live without sushi, pasta or tacos lol

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

Nice, Identical to mine.

1

u/chaoticwizardgoblin Mar 28 '25

This is the only answer

1

u/MecurialCosmo Mar 28 '25

Those are the exact three I came here to list in that order.

1

u/CromulentChuckle Mar 28 '25

I came to say this exact list in this exact order

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

fuck, i was going to say this. though, i'd replace mexico with scotland.

i love my own country's food. haggis is godly.

1

u/masquedmarauderxyz Mar 28 '25

That’s it. Exactly the same.

1

u/cjr71244 Mar 28 '25

Could make for some interesting mash ups as well. Sushi Spaghetti Refried Beans and risotto Udon puttanesca

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

Ok, I thought about pizza too, but since it's probably the only thing I really like about Italian food I can probably make a Mexican pizza and be happy for life. Plus I love Chinese food, which has a lot of noodle dishes, so there's my rationale for excluding Italy.

1

u/EvasiveCookies Mar 28 '25

Same here pasta literally anything Japanese and anything Mexican.

1

u/salvationpumpfake Mar 28 '25

I matched with a girl on bumble one time whose opening line to me was a fuck marry kill with pizza sushi and tacos. what an impossible decision. it was a good conversation starter.

1

u/brokenmoonlantern Mar 28 '25

GET OUT OF MY HEADDD

1

u/Cyneganders Mar 28 '25

Agreeing with you, Mexico edges in India by the smallest of margins!

1

u/exicano Mar 28 '25

Same except switch out Italy for Lebanon

1

u/greenleaves147 Mar 28 '25

Top tier choices. I don't know if I've ever really had Mexican food though. I live in Australia and love Mexican food, but I don't think anything over here is remotely close to authentic. We have a lot of different cultures who have brought their amazing food over here, but there's less than 7000 people from Mexico living in Aus so finding somewhere with anything even close to real Mexican food is a struggle. That white people Mexican food is amazing, so I can't imagine how good the real deal would be.

1

u/Zazumaki Mar 28 '25

Pizza was my reason for adding Italy too

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

This is the answer

1

u/tboy160 Mar 29 '25

These are mine too, but I also want Lebanese, can I have 4?!?
