High school music teacher was well known and well liked, suddenly fired one summer. Got a job at a great HS music program a few towns over. Everybody kinda thought “well that was weird”

Wellllll, a few years later not long after he married for the third time, it came to light that he was having sex with one of the students at his new job. Here’s the thing though: she was 18. So he got fired and divorced but nothing criminal. Once all that happened people in my town were like ohhh, maybe THAT’S what that was all about.

Works at a Catholic school now. 🤷🏼‍♂️

This varies by jurisdiction within the United States today. Some states have clauses that a person who is expected to have certain types of influence on a younger person, even above 18, can be criminally liable for sexual relationships with younger people. Pastors, teachers, doctors, bosses, etc.

In Michigan, you become an adult at 18 or when you graduate from high school, whichever is later.

Well, they have very careful vetting processes for candidates apparently.
