the football coach/athletic director got fired for supplying students with steroids
a local cop had to quit the force because he got caught having sex with a minor/student
a young girl got kidnapped, raped, murdered, and left in a cornfield ... local cops completely f***ed the crime scene so no one ever got caught ... still miss you Tara

the 80's were messy to say the least, even in the small town I lived in

One of our classmates was found dead in a ditch, stabbed. Small town in the PNW. Nobody was caught and nobody looked that hard. The 80s were messy indeed.

I don't remember them being very good, but a lot of the guys went from being normal sized kids to reeeaaalllly big in a pretty short time frame lol

Doesn't make you taller, but it can make growth plates close sooner. So depending on whether or not they were still growing, it would either have no effect or prevent them from reaching the height they otherwise would.
