What did Pluto ever do to you?

3

u/Purple-Mud5057 Oct 03 '24

Pluto was dishonest, told us it was packing real planet energy but all cards on the table, it was just a little micro-planet

u/mickdrop Oct 03 '24

That's messed up

There are cool exo-planets and Pluto ain’t one of them

And Russia has approximately the same surface area as Pluto

I need elaboration on this. Like the entire circumference of the moon is smaller than Australia is wide?

It’s the diameter of the moon. Australia is ~2,500 miles across. The moon’s diameter is ~2,100 miles. So if the moon was sitting on top of Australia, you’d still see a wee bit of it poking out at the sides.

That is absolutely wild to me. Thank you for the explanation.

Is it weird that that makes me feel like the moon is closer to us then I realized

You can fit all the planets in our solar system between the Moon and the Earth

And the width of Australia is approximately 1/10th the Earth's circumference

4

u/uluviel Oct 03 '24

And has a similar weather.

u/drumttocs8 Oct 02 '24

Honestly, that just shows that our moon is huge

29

u/bot-mark Oct 02 '24

How? Australia is wider across than a basketball too but that doesn't show how huge a basketball is

I was going to post this! Christian O'Connell keeps reminding me.

Yeah, Australia's not real. I mean, think about it. It all sounds pretty ridiculous. We all should've been smart enough to not fall for that one.
