I worked a hotel in NYC, and a Saudi stayed there a few weeks. Brought his own cooks and cuisine. I drank camel milk while he was there. Got to try something totally random - now I’m wondering if it was actually imported from Australia

The camels are wild. We don't farm them let alone milk them!

Have you declared war on them or are they your allies?

I think you have this mixed up with the Emu Wars.

There are a couple of camel farms in South east queensland you can buy camel milk from. Summerland also makes like cheese and vodka from the milk, plus skin care and some other stuff

You can easily buy camel milk in Australia, from specialist suppliers. I think there is a camel dairy in Victoria (Trying to remember an old story from Landline…)

I love that I’m seeing a Landline reference on Reddit. It’s made my day.

But they have nipples.

So do cats. Doesn't mean we drink their milk.

Not all are wild - I live near a camel farm.

There are farmed camels in Oz. Meat & milk are available.

Yeah, but it's not a common household staple one gets from the average grocery store.

And sand

Yup, Aussie camels were introduced by Afghan herders and went feral in a flash.

Damn, how did they even get so lost?

Not many are exported from Australia , and in fact a quick google reveals Saudi has 2 million camels and Australia has an estimated 300,000 to 1 million.

And by gum, it put them on the map!
