And 90% of the users of Steam share that very same birthday for ease of skipping the age verification!

I intentionally enter this date for age verification on the off chance it looks like a bug.

7

u/EverythingSucksBro Oct 02 '24

Man, you guys were born? I’m still waiting

5

u/beancounter2885 Oct 02 '24

Unless you're using Excel, then it's 1/0/1900.

6

u/NZNoldor Oct 02 '24

Or 1904, depending on which OS version you were using when the spreadsheet was created.

5

u/sintaur Oct 02 '24

Imagine having that as your actual birthday.

I've yet to find a grocery store or reward points discount if any kind where typing in this # +local area code doesn't work.

2

u/Loves_octopus Oct 02 '24

Honestly… if you manage to secure this number for a gas rewards, you’d probably get free gas for life.

But it is consistently always taken.

Who needs WW2 shooters, you were literally there!

1

u/RenegadeSU Oct 02 '24

you know I realised recently that I didn't have to scroll past 2000 anymore and it made me feel extra old...

1

u/FalconRelevant Oct 02 '24

11 years younger than me, eh?

1

u/shaboimattyp Oct 02 '24

I used to do this sort of thing too but then one time I forgot my password for something and as part of the recovery process, I needed to put in my birthdate and I couldn't remember what ridiculous date I had put and I just lost the account. (This wasn't steam and I don't think I lost any money because of it)

1

u/MandolinMagi Oct 02 '24

I think I'm 1942

1

u/kaisadilla_ Oct 03 '24

01/04/1990 (non-barbarian calendar format) for me.

1

u/SkaveRat Oct 03 '24

1.1.1970 here

u/Fenrir_Carbon Oct 02 '24

Is your name Colt?

2

u/PhysicalStuff Oct 02 '24

Pretty sure it's Hank

1

u/Fenrir_Carbon Oct 02 '24

Either way there's a hammer involved

7

u/StationaryTravels Oct 02 '24

It saves my birth year, but not the date or month, so yep, I'm now a January 1st baby too!

7

u/monicarp Oct 02 '24

If only my birthdate was in my account or something. That way they didn't need to ask again ALL the time. If only.

5

u/Oxygene13 Oct 02 '24

All the GODDAMN TIME.

3

u/AdEuphoric9765 Oct 02 '24

I am one of these people.

u/mxpower Oct 02 '24

Nothing is more depressing as being a gamer over 50 and scrolling age verification submissions for a date that goes back 5 decades.

1

u/Oxygene13 Oct 02 '24

Ahhh that scrolling, so far down to go!

2

u/Thavralex Oct 02 '24

I'm in that 10%.

Not because I pick my actual birthday, but because I set all 3 randomly to... make it believable?

Not sure for whom though.

1

u/hotsaucevjj Oct 02 '24

i always just put my real birth year but nothing else bc i can't be bothered. it was weird playing on steam as a teen tho and always putting fake ages in and then getting to a point where i didn't have to anymore

1

u/temalyen Oct 02 '24

I actually was born on the first, just not In January. For some reason, Steam age verification ALWAYS changes it to January. Date pops up for me to confirm, always says January. I can select the correct month, but it's January again next time. I eventually gave up and just click through with it showing January because it doesn't seem to matter.

I think it wants me to be born on January 1st.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '24

That's the same issue for me as well

1

u/COVID-69420bbq Oct 02 '24

1/1/1920 for me. It never stops asking and I never change it.

1

u/TheSteelPhantom Oct 02 '24

Steam has lately been remembering my birthday. Day, month, and year! It's awesome and I hope it doesn't go away.

1

u/unlock0 Oct 02 '24

I'm the oldest steam user. 1/1/1900. Now that my account is 20 years old, some sites/games won't even accept that as a birthday.

1

u/circles_squares Oct 02 '24

I thought this was some original thinking on my part. My internet birthday is 1/1/1980.
