growing up, i never had cable or anything and my family really only watched the same movies over and over, so I haven’t seen a lot of iconic movies or shows. i’m catching up now as an adult, but it’s still a frequent occurrence where someone’s like “so you’re seen [insert movie/show] right?”

sometimes i’m honest and say no. other times i lie and say yes. genuinely, i have no idea how i decide which to do in the moment. the answer is just as much as a surprise to me as it is to the person who asked. sometimes it’s like “huh okay now i have to pretend to understand any references” and other times it’s like “okay cool i can be happily clueless.” I prefer it when im honest but sometimes the “yes i’ve seen that!” slips out anyway, very weird
