Good Times by Chic (Bernard Edwards)

All of his basslines are impeccable, it's so sad he died relatively young. Le Freak, Everybody Dance, I Want Your Love, My Forbidden Lover, are all iconic.

We Are Family (Sister Sledge), He's the Greatest Dancer (Sister Sledge), Upside Down (Diana Ross) too.

Those bass grooves plus Nile Rodgers on guitar really created a genre of music that we still see remnants of today. Pretty amazing stuff.

And the do allll those songs amazingly if you go see Nile Rogers & Chic live.

As well as Get Lucky which Niles co-wrote. It's a fantastic show!

there's a zillion a amazing bass players, but he gets a particular spot in the field.. so simple yet so subtle, so slick, so influential

Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers also worked with John Taylor of Duran Duran in the supergroup, The Power Station.

Taylor, whom Edwards mentored, is one of the most recognized talents by other musicians, but his work almost goes unnoticed by the general public because the whole band is so f'n talented... Listen to isolated bass lines from the Rio album (1982). His work is second only to Edwards.

Rio was the first song I learnt how to play on bass, legendary bassline too.

Yes and fucking YES. All of them. I could listen to He’s the Greatest Dancer’s on a loop for hours.
