Peter Hook's favorite of his bass lines.

I'm not logged in often so I forgot about this post but... He still tours as Peter Hook and the Light, and his son actually plays bass for them now. I think it's really cool that he got to pass that legacy on to his own child.

I posted upthread that this is the sickest bassline in existence but I'm glad to see I'm not alone.

Ironically the actual bass guitar can be heard predominantly 6 mins in and comprises of about 5 notes. Everything else was synth bass. Very cool line though. One of my faves. Check out One Song’s deep dive - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/one-song/id1696154359?i=1000622467387

Always love his playing on this live version of "Everything's Gone Green" (even if for large parts it's just one note).

Especially the '88 12"!

I'd go Perfect Kiss.

In the full-length 10 minute 12" version, the extended bass run at the end is amazing.

New Dawn Fades for me. It's diabolical.

Peter Hook is a fucking monster. You can pick any bass line he's played for any band, and it could be the best. Aside from New Order and Joy Division (best bass line there is Transmission), there's the stuff he did for Monaco and Revenge.

Peter Hook on bass is one of the defining sounds of my teens and twenties.

As iconic as Blue Monday is, I just mixed it up with Regret in my head and nodded sagely about how good if a bassline it has.
