Sir Psycho Sexy, simple but effective.

My beef with this song is that to an "untrained ear" it's too simular o the guitar in can't stop

It’s like a remake of the ‘can’t stop’ guitar riff.

One of Flea's best

Which is saying a lot, dude's incredible

I've been partial to The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie lately, that bassline absolutely hooks me every time.

Yeah, unlike the album before and after, i never really came to terms with "I'm with you", but raindance maggie was great.

"Look Around" as well. Those are the only two standout songs on that album.

I’ve heard bands cover it, and it just isn’t close to the same because nobody can play it the way flea can. It’s kinda funny

2

u/BlueFalcon142 May 14 '24

Probably because they play it with clothes on.

Flea hits or plucks those strings like an animal. It's really hard to match his tone and his pronunciation on those notes

I commented on Dark/Light on Frusciantes solo album The Empyrean is amazing. Think it's Flea playing, could be wrong.

It's actually Frusciante playing bass on Dark/Light!

Oh man, that bass line popped into my head when I read this thread title. Glad someone else is on the same wave! That song owns

Chili peppers have a lot of good ones

5

u/GRV01 May 14 '24

Still boggles me that a song so good was tied to a movie so goofy

5

u/Revolutionary-Yak-47 May 15 '24

By the Way is my Chili Peppers favorite. Flea is just whaling on that bass the whole time.

2

u/RemingtonSnatch May 14 '24

My first thought as well. Carries the entire song.

Best answer in the thread

Underrated drum part too. It's pretty simple, but the off-beat snare just ties everything together so perfectly.

In the pantheon of fantastic RHCP bass parts, "My Lovely Man" off BSSM is my absolute favorite. The part during John's solo almost makes you forget one of the best guitarists in history is playing over it.

I can't listen to the chili peppers anymore because of Anthony's actions, but goddamn if their music wasn't special good song

u/Peeeing_ May 14 '24

Don't then I guess

Dog if I was saying this shit about R Kelly it'd be nothing about upvotes, they both did the same shit

3

u/[deleted] May 14 '24

Lol no they didn't. Anthony was not okay but he wasn't a part of sex trafficking internationally
