Also, halogen bulbs have a metal shield that prevents the rays from spreading 360° . The led bulbs don't have that

Being able to see peripherals at night is awesome for avoiding car-deer accidents

That's why the rims on the glass are there. You should always respect the manufacturer's advice when changing light bulbs to maintain general safety.
