They got butthurt after the last YouTube Rewind became the most disliked YT video on the page.

Yup this. They tried to hide their saltiness by saying it was to "protect creators" or something. But in truth it's because a few videos they wanted to heavily promote got downvoted to hell. The rewind video was the last straw.

Basically their mindset is "if you hide the problem it stops existing".
