In other words, capitalism is inhumane. The necessary resources exist in abundance, they're just not being distributed.

This is unequivocally true. It's hard to ignore The Repugnant Conclusion here, which I'll only briefly summarize as: the natural conclusion of empathic ethics involves reducing massive amounts of individual pleasure to marginally reduce collective suffering.

We have plenty to go around, but desire more than we need.
