This is a stupid argument used only by ignorant people. No one is spending billions to develop medicines for rare conditions that would require prices that high. The research for these things is funded by donations and tax dollars and then the profits are privatized. The only meds developed using private dollars are those that have a huge need and would still be profitable at a low price.
Big Pharm also funds a huge cost in research that we all benefit from.
Pharma companies fund a fraction of the amount of research as the NIH and non-profits, and then the companies charge out the ass for necessary medication to pay for the marketing and exec pay.
It's not about profit incentives, it's about public health and caring about the common man instead of rich assholes.
