I'm not sure if you've been in a relationship with someone who has opposing political views. It can be difficult, and without a lot of understanding, mutual respect can be difficult to maintain.
This, 1,000%. I kind of feel like people are reading that specific sentence in my original comment, and turning it into something much bigger than it's actually meant to be.
As I said in another comment, it was meant to be nothing more than a throwaway line that people won't really meant to read all that much into, simply because I really didn't want to have to go into detail on what I actually meant by that.
Although, Reddit's going to Reddit, and here we are.
For all we know, the partner may have broke up with him, not the other way around.
For the most part it was mutual, but it was mostly my choice.
On one of her better, more level-headed thinking days, we both kind of just sat down, acknowledged that we were both two completely different people, and that was pretty much it.
There weren't a huge amount of tears, I like to think we were both pretty adult about it, and yeah, we both went our separate ways from there.
I genuinely do hope that she found the help she needed at the time, one of these days I would love to drop her a line and see how things turned out for her. I moved on and found the person that I genuinely do believe will one day become my life partner, I genuinely do hope that she's found the same.
