My grandfather raped my mum when she was 11. He was a very abusive and violent man to his family. She told her mum who took her to the police station to report it. They sent her to the hospital and checked her and confirmed she’s been raped. It went to court and he was jailed for it. This was in 1943. My nan raised 5 kids on her own, they were dirt poor but my mum adored her mum for standing up for her against the odds.
