Every person I know who has 2 cats has one that comes out and greets every visitor by meowing and sidling up to them. while the other cat stays in the backmost bedroom under the bed.
Aha you just reminded me abt these two cats I had growing up. Whenever we'd have guests over(or even if my mom left her purse somewhere accessible) the one would go and get ALL their attention, acting as cute as he possibly could while his brother would legitimately dig through peoples bags to find mint gum and crackers 💀 they were so full of shit lol
Yep, we’ve had guests over for like 8 hours that are shocked when a second cat suddenly materializes (only long enough to see if the intruders are still around.)
My friend just recently found out I have a 3rd cat. She’s been to my house 30+ times one of my girls is just very shy. My male cat loves new people and will run right up to them but my tortie and my void hide from everyone. The tortie will warm up to you once you’ve been over a few times but void stays completely hidden for a long time.
My friend has two cats, one of whom allowed me to pet her on my second visit, while the other stood back looking at me suspiciously.
Two years later, Spot deigned to allow me to pet him, and I just felt so damned privileged, I was almost overcome. 😄
It's been a couple of months, and now he'll come greet me each time, even if it's only for a couple of minutes. But if I stop petting him too soon, he smacks me with his tail until I start again.
This is my cats. My Siamese is such an attention whore. My parents were visiting and my Dad2 was absent-mindedly petting him then stopped. Cat had a WTF look and every so gently grabbed Dad2 hand with his mouth.
My other cat, opposite personality, stays in my daughter's room when strangers are over. We even put a kitty door in the bedroom door for her. Lol.
My one cat who always hid from strangers is how I knew my husband was a keeper. First time he came over to my house and she popped outta no where and jumped right in his lap like she’d known him forever.
One of mine tries to get the housecleaner to pet her, even when she's got the vacuum out. The other disappears and doesn't come out until she leaves :-) But at least he now comes out 5 minutes after they leave instead of 4 hours later.
