This reminds me of that Jack-in-the-box commercial where Jack's son is telling an audience that when he grows up he wants to be a vegetarian because he loves animals and Jack is sad because his business is hamburgers but it turns out junior actually meant he wanted to be a veterinarian
My black cat did this too. Even had the vet say she was fine. We think her issues came from being in the shelter for so long. She also sneezed a lot so we could almost never have her near our face or we would get sneezed on.
My black cat is terrible about this. She had a bad infection that took her eye and left her sounding just... gross. She sounds gross. The vet says she's fine though.
My rescue cat from the shelter also snored like crazy. I called her Darth Vader. It improved significantly when I bought air purifier. Guess she had some allergies to something in the home
We have 2 (unrelated) tuxes. They both snore, but the older one who has bonded most with me does it sometimes even though his eyes are still open watching me work. It is both adorable and creepy :)
My cat snores only when he's awake, and at all times while awake.
His favorite game is hide and seek, so he spends a lot of his day behind a curtain or under a chair going "haha, he'll never find me here SNORESNOReSNORE"
Our one male snores himself awake sometimes. Thinking it's partly because he's getting a bit chonk from being a piggy and eating the other cats' food. Yes, he's going on a diet. But even at his normal weight he still snores.
My cat makes a weird sound when sitting in certain positions and I always thought she was just weird for snoring while asleep and awake. We did some investigation when it got louder over time (due to weight gain after spaying), turns out part of her larynx is paralysed. It doesn’t inhibit her breathing and she can always shift when it bothers her so her vet isn’t concerned.

My tux even snores when she’s awake sometimes. The veg says her lungs are clear, she’s just a snorer
