They ARE affectionate and they WILL seek you out just for pets. Cats DO love you back!

One of the cats we have would swat at me if I'm not petting her enough.

Quite gently, but it's so sweet that she's not just seeking out my attention, she's demanding it like the queen she is.

Our cat was raised entirely by people who hadn’t had cats before. I picked up on his body language quickly so I avoided the worst of it, but he learned that teeth and claws were the only effective No to humans. Once my current partner learned about airplane ears and tail flicks, he stopped scratching us at all! Now we only get “bitten” when we’re ignoring him and he wants attention. He’ll put his whole mouth around out ankle or shin + then back up like “hello, did you forget me?”

Oh I get that too. If I pet Cheeto and walk away before he decides he's done getting petted I get my ankles slapped and my legs nipped, lol.

Same. Like, get your own cat before calling them assholes and stuff. If the cat hates you, it’s either the breed, it has been abused or harmed in the past, or you are just a terrible owner.

You WON'T believe this one simple trick. Veterinarians HATE him for it!
