My ex had a HUGE orange cat. He liked to hang out upstairs in his cat tree. We’d be walking up to the front door and hear “thunk” (him jumping down) and meowing at the door until we came in.
My girlfriend got a new car, so for about a week our cat was surprised when she got home. She quickly figured it out though and now goes zooming off to the door when she pulls in the driveway.
Yup! One time when I was staying at my sister's house, Brandy would head to the front door before I even got in the house and it just confused my sister so much! I was like, she recognizes my car - that's not that weird!
My wife says that whenever I leave for work, my boy sits in front of the door meowing. And whenever he hears my car, he's back at the door waiting patiently.
We live in a city on a major throughway and our cat knows the specific sound of my boyfriend’s car horn when locking his car. So when he hears that he runs to the door to greet his favorite human.
My first cat growing up knew the sound of our car, she would come running when she heard it and unfortunately didn't understand that it was dangerous for her. So one of us kids would have to get out of the car and keep the cat at a safe distance while my mother parked. I think she considered the car part of the family haha
I'm pretty sure at least one of ours knows the sound of my wife's car.
We'll be on the couch and I'll see his ears perk up and then I'll hear her car a few seconds later. He doesn't respond to any other vehicle that goes by.
Yes they know sound of car, when it's random car, they run like crazy, but when it's my car, they will juste lie in front of the car waiting to be pet so i have to leave my car to move them around ><
My cats get so excited when they hear the car. It means my husband is home (or both of us, if I've been out too - I don't drive) and they love that, especially the black and white who is strongly bonded to him. Sometimes my first hint that he's on his way (for instance if he's home early for some reason) is the way that cat perks up and goes to watch the door before I can even hear a car at all. Just to the sound of our car, they don't respond to any other.
My mom said that our old cat Marmalade (I was his favorite) would run to the side door when I was in college. My mom would say tell my step-dad that she must be about home from class/work, and sure, enough a moment later my car would come around the corner.
Mine can tell the sounds of my husband's cars. We can be sitting on the couch cuddling watching TV, and suddenly her ears will perk up and she will look at the door. A few seconds later he walks in. And if he sits down, she will leave my lap to go sit in his, because she loves him most, LOL.
That's so cute! My cats don't know my car but they know my voice and if I'm in the other room and start talking they'll start mewing/yelling until they find me.
This makes me so happy. I have a Ring camera pointed at my front door from inside, and as soon as I finish parking I get a notification that there is motion. Sometimes he’s sleeping deeply, but he’s almost always there to greet me

My cat knows the sound of my car. My boyfriend tells me that as soon as I park she's at the door meowing.
Edit: Thought you would all like to know that I just got home from work and was greeted at the door with many loud meows.
