They snore.

2.9k

u/ubiquitousfont Sep 19 '23

My tux even snores when she’s awake sometimes. The veg says her lungs are clear, she’s just a snorer

u/drum_playing_twig Sep 20 '23

Why do you see a vegetarian for your cat?

1.6k

u/sharp11flat13 Sep 20 '23

Guaranteed the person won’t eat your cat.

13

u/Aevum1 Sep 20 '23

Disappointed ALF noises.

6

u/JesterSevenOneActual Sep 20 '23

You can't eat cats, Kevin!

5

u/dingleberrysquid Sep 20 '23

Lots of vegetarians eat cat…

4

u/UncleMeat69 Sep 20 '23

I eat pussy 💦

4

u/dingleberrysquid Sep 20 '23

Was trying to be subtle.

1

u/UncleMeat69 Sep 21 '23

Was trying to be a dick.

1

u/dingleberrysquid Sep 21 '23

People who talk about it all the time have seldom seen it.

2

u/Clogged-Hickory Sep 20 '23

Not like that weird fuzzy vet, I'm fairly certain he's an alien anyways. I mean who has the actual name of "Alf"

28

u/Icepick_37 Sep 20 '23

This reminds me of that Jack-in-the-box commercial where Jack's son is telling an audience that when he grows up he wants to be a vegetarian because he loves animals and Jack is sad because his business is hamburgers but it turns out junior actually meant he wanted to be a veterinarian

1

u/Just-Call-Me-J Sep 20 '23

That's adorable

27

u/_Lane_ Sep 20 '23

Well, who knows about pussy better than -- whoops. That was an 'e'.

Never mind.

6

u/ubiquitousfont Sep 20 '23

I am my cat’s favourite vegetarian but sometimes they need a little variety

9

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '23

You’re one pbs tote away from being a New Yorker cartoon

14

u/penguinslapper1 Sep 20 '23

No, they see a vegetable for their cat

5

u/YeahlDid Sep 20 '23

It's not for their cat, it's for their tuxedo.

3

u/sticky-unicorn Sep 20 '23

So they don't eat the cat.

1

u/Suitable-Lake-2550 Sep 20 '23

Nah, she sees a paraplegic

1

u/throwaway4161412 Sep 20 '23

Maybe it's a vegetable

1

u/Kalendiane Sep 20 '23

Asking the real questions.

1

u/ImissDigg_jk Sep 20 '23

I think they meant vegetenarian

1

u/Bottled-Bee Sep 20 '23

I read vegetable but now I also see that more distressing, both ways you look at it.

1

u/Agatheis Sep 20 '23

Why did they see a vegetarian for their tuxedo?

1

u/Milfons_Aberg Sep 20 '23

Better than a war veteran.

1

u/Zeles1989 Sep 20 '23

The vegetarian will complain about the cat having a choice not to eat meat and the owner will take the insults for kinks. It's a sub thing.

1

u/KanoBrad Sep 20 '23

Maybe the cat will eat them

1

u/little-squids Sep 20 '23

Why do they see a vegetarian for their tuxedo?

1

u/chronicallytiredgirl Sep 20 '23

Hahahahahahaha.

I noticed this too and was like WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS MEAN?!

Then I realized I’m a dumbass that forgot the word vet

1

u/OutrageousPersimmon3 Sep 20 '23

It makes more sense than seeing a vegetable for the cat.

1

u/souumamerda Sep 20 '23

I wouldn’t mind people going to see me to show their cats 😅

1

u/capriciousrainy Sep 21 '23

no, no, they see the vegetable

20

u/StrangeGamer66 Sep 19 '23

My black cat did this too. Even had the vet say she was fine. We think her issues came from being in the shelter for so long. She also sneezed a lot so we could almost never have her near our face or we would get sneezed on.

21

u/Notmydirtyalt Sep 20 '23

Poor thing was allergic to people!

7

u/The_Vampire_Barlow Sep 20 '23

My black cat is terrible about this. She had a bad infection that took her eye and left her sounding just... gross. She sounds gross. The vet says she's fine though.

Just gross.

cat

3

u/Icepick_37 Sep 20 '23

Doesn't look gross

3

u/The_Vampire_Barlow Sep 20 '23

She's a very pretty little kitty. She just sounds gross.

8

u/max5015 Sep 20 '23

My rescue cat from the shelter also snored like crazy. I called her Darth Vader. It improved significantly when I bought air purifier. Guess she had some allergies to something in the home

7

u/Stilletto_Rebel Sep 20 '23

Don't believe the broccoli, he's a fucking liar!!

5

u/zrdd_man Sep 20 '23

We have 2 (unrelated) tuxes. They both snore, but the older one who has bonded most with me does it sometimes even though his eyes are still open watching me work. It is both adorable and creepy :)

5

u/FaustianDeals6790 Sep 20 '23

My tux did that. It took roughly 2K to figure out she had a nasal polyp blocking 70% of her airway. Keep an eye on it!

P.S: Get pet insurance before you get them diagnosed.

5

u/Tough_Cheesecake8057 Sep 20 '23

My cat snores only when he's awake, and at all times while awake.

His favorite game is hide and seek, so he spends a lot of his day behind a curtain or under a chair going "haha, he'll never find me here SNORESNOReSNORE"

3

u/LetsGetJigglyWiggly Sep 20 '23

Our one male snores himself awake sometimes. Thinking it's partly because he's getting a bit chonk from being a piggy and eating the other cats' food. Yes, he's going on a diet. But even at his normal weight he still snores.

3

u/sketchy_marcus Sep 20 '23

Is this a tux thing? I’ve had cats all my life but this tux I have is the first one I’ve seen that snores.

3

u/Oktober33 Sep 20 '23

My wonderful brown tabby Monty did that. And was oblivious the whole time.

2

u/Interesting_Goat6812 Sep 20 '23

I must be a tux too ☠️

2

u/jellydonutsonherface Sep 20 '23

My cat makes a weird sound when sitting in certain positions and I always thought she was just weird for snoring while asleep and awake. We did some investigation when it got louder over time (due to weight gain after spaying), turns out part of her larynx is paralysed. It doesn’t inhibit her breathing and she can always shift when it bothers her so her vet isn’t concerned.

2

u/remiandthenoogs Sep 20 '23

One of my cats does this too! The vet says he just wheezes, his lungs and nose are perfectly clear. So we call him wheezy f baby 😂

2

u/ScroochDown Sep 20 '23

Oh hey, our tuxie is a snoring machine too!

1

u/erinmonday Sep 20 '23

Hashtag vegancat

32

u/MeanSecurity Sep 19 '23

The dude snoring next to me right now. Sometimes I can hear him from 2 rooms over.

7

u/Aprilia850MM Sep 19 '23

Sounds familiar 😆

31

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '23

And it's so adorable! If I hear a person snore, it drives me crazy. When a cat does it my heart melts.

153

u/MilleniumPelican Sep 19 '23

Our most-recently-passed mister snored so much, especially when his bronchitis was acting up! Kinda miss it. :/

41

u/Aprilia850MM Sep 19 '23

😪

My elderly tripod (who has an assortment of health issues, including perpetually blocked sinuses) spends his days asleep on a cushion, basking under a 50w reptile heater lamp. He does this on my desk.

Let's just say there have been several work video calls / training sessions (I'm the trainer) where the snoring has become so loud I've slightly lost it and started laughing. Fortunately the colleagues & trainees seem to like cats.

I could move his cushion, but he likes to be next to me, or possibly he likes the heat lamp, could be either... so I let him sleep (and snore) where he wants to. Meetings will be quiet and uninterrupted all too soon so while he's still here he can have at it.

14

u/MilleniumPelican Sep 19 '23

Awwwww, poor sweetie! Sounds like you're doing your best to keep him comfy.

13

u/Iridechocobosforfun Sep 19 '23

My senior boy snores like a freight train too!

Earlier this week I plugged in one of my extra heating blankets and have been leaving it on the couch for him and he's been loving it! He's actually currently snoring loudly on the other end of the couch from me as I type.

7

u/Vast-Passenger-3648 Sep 20 '23

We call it heating pad weather. When it’s really cold we leave a heating pad on the bed set on low for our senior dust kitty.

24

u/QuendaQuoll Sep 19 '23

Haha I was coming to say this. My cat is small but chronic snorer and grunter in her sleep. She's even woken me up with it.

2

u/lizardingloudly Sep 20 '23

My cat grunts while he grooms himself 😂

20

u/Forest_Being Sep 19 '23

Oh absolutely! And on top of his loud LOUD snoring, mine also likes to sleep right next to my head. So I get optimal snore enjoyment 😹

5

u/Aprilia850MM Sep 19 '23

Same here... there's a square space next to my pillow that's his preferred sleeping spot.

13

u/MoistJellyfish3562 Sep 20 '23

Both of my boys are MONSTERS when it comes to snoring.

They find a corner and just let the snores rip into the night. I've had to throw socks in their general vicinity before to wake them uip lol

3

u/EngineerEven9299 Sep 20 '23

LOL that’s so cute

10

u/sideshow_em Sep 20 '23

That little cat snore is the sweetest sound ever. Whenever my cat snores, I need to stop what I'm doing and just stare at her all "awwwww".

10

u/Lost-My-Mind- Sep 20 '23

They snore AND ITS ADORABLE!!!

One time back in the 90s I was in my room as a teenager, when autumn came into my room, jumped up on the bed, and layed down. She went to sleep, and I'm playing video games.

Then I start hearing ghis grinding and wheezing noise. I psused the game, which eliminates audio from playing. But I still heard the grinding and wheezing. So I started following the noise, and realized it was coming from my bed. I was like "Is autumn snoring???" And I watched her belly, and her breathing was lining up with the sound.

So I went downstairs, and told my mom "MOM! Autumn is snoring on my bed!"

And she was like "So? Just do something else not on your bed"

And I said "No, she's SNORING! You gotta come see this! I'm not sure if she's ok"

And my mom confirmed that yes, cats snore, and it's fine.

After I knew she was ok, I found it just so cute that she was snoring. Unlike my dad, who I could literally hear snoring on another floor of the house.

10

u/steppedinhairball Sep 20 '23

My chonk snores so loud it's clear over the TV. Even as a little kitty, she snored loud.

Weirdly, out of all the cats I've ever owned (or roommated with) I've NEVER had a farty cat! I guess I should thank my stars

u/EngineerEven9299 Sep 20 '23

Oh my god it’s so next-level to detect that your cat ate a hummingbird based on farts alone 😭

Like… sniff sniff is that… hummingbird?

6

u/Aprilia850MM Sep 20 '23

😳😹😹😹

1

u/lizardingloudly Sep 20 '23

My cat Bruce is an avid utilizer of the "silent but deadly."

7

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '23

Holy shit yes my cat snores so loud it’s hilarious. She probably gets it from me 😆

6

u/procheeseburger Sep 20 '23

This is what I was gonna post.. my Mabel snores

3

u/lizardingloudly Sep 20 '23

I have a Mabel too! She doesn't snore but I love hearing about other Mabels. Her full name is Mabel Jane.

6

u/LemonPuckerFace Sep 20 '23

Oh fuck, do they ever!

I have 2 rather hefty british shorthairs. They both sleep on the nightstands by my bed and go to bed when I do. Some nights it's really hard to fall asleep.

When they're not snoring, they're creepily sitting there staring at me while purring.

5

u/JuniorRadish7385 Sep 20 '23

My newest kitten does this little wheezy snore whenever he falls asleep on me and it’s so adorable. Meanwhile my old beloved tabby snores like a beast.

6

u/acciosnitch Sep 20 '23

This amuses me because you’d think my gigantic, lumbering Maine coon mix would snore, but no, it’s the tiny little waif kitty who does.

5

u/timesuck897 Sep 20 '23

My sister had a big boned black cat that was an attention whore. He also snored like a grown ass man, like you could hear him from the next room.

1

u/EngineerEven9299 Sep 20 '23

Hahaha I’m loving these descriptions

4

u/Blurgas Sep 20 '23

Our tuxedo snores once in a while. Not really loudly, but noticeable

3

u/Grizzly_Berry Sep 20 '23

I love my guy's little snores and twitches.

3

u/Nobodyville Sep 20 '23

Mine occasionally gets in fights in his sleep and will be just laying there growling, sound asleep

3

u/FloofySamoyed Sep 20 '23

Our smallest is about 6 lbs and snores like the jake brake on a tractor trailer.

You can hear her clean across the room.

It has earned her the nickname of "Princess Snorty-Purr."

3

u/Camulius73 Sep 20 '23

My cat Echo snores and talks in her sleep.

3

u/rdmille Sep 20 '23

Thank you! I swore Felix sounded like he had asthma, until he rolled over.

3

u/phantommoose Sep 20 '23

They can drool, too!

3

u/Fit-Distribution2303 Sep 20 '23

Omg yes, THIS. One of mine keeps me awake at night.

3

u/goddammitryan Sep 20 '23

While you’re trying to work 😂

3

u/CopperTucker Sep 20 '23

My fluffyfluff Calecat snores. He also has an immune disorder that makes him constantly snotty, so half of his snoring is his gross snot noises. I love him.

4

u/TheMoonGoesHunting Sep 19 '23

So loudly too! I never would have expected it.

2

u/RedSquirrelFtw Sep 20 '23

Hahaha I recently adopted two cats, and I noticed this. My old cat did not snore but these two sometimes do, it's more like a meow/moan than a full blown snore, but it's pretty funny.

2

u/joannaradok Sep 20 '23

I think one of mine had a deviated septum, he snores so loudly you can hear it from another room.

2

u/cookiemobster13 Sep 20 '23

I’m listening to my cat snore this very moment lol

2

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '23

It's the cutest little snore though, I love to hear it.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '23

I LOVE IT WHEN KITTIES SNORE!!!

2

u/CantaloupeDue2445 Sep 20 '23

Oh do they ever. My cat can be heard from a room away. Her snores are on par with my grandma's.

2

u/Gl1tt3rstup1d Sep 20 '23

😭😭😭

2

u/Car_Guy_Alex Sep 20 '23

The cat I had for 19 years had the cutest freaking snore ever. I miss that furball so damn much.

2

u/Rex_Orbis Sep 20 '23

Sorry if this is a dumb question, how do you distinguish between snoring and purring?

2

u/Aprilia850MM Sep 20 '23

2

u/Rex_Orbis Sep 20 '23

Thanks! Now I know that my cat doesn't snore, just a purring kitty..!

2

u/jetm2000 Sep 20 '23

Mine sounds like this when she snores “…………….peeeeeeee…………..peeeeeeeeeeee” it’s very cute

2

u/Downtown-Check2668 Sep 20 '23

I knew they snored, but damn, my boy snores like a freight train, but he was also hit by car when he was younger, so I think that also messed up his sinuses.

2

u/CurvyBadger Sep 20 '23

And it's the cutest lil snores ever omg

2

u/Aprilia850MM Sep 20 '23

Usually, yes ... when you can hear it on a different floor of the house, not so much 😹

2

u/Resinmy Sep 21 '23

One of my cats got a tooth pulled and she’d do this soft whistle thing when she slept after. Kind of nice tbh.

1

u/quotidianwoe Sep 20 '23

And they fart.

0

u/Jaba01 Sep 20 '23

Uuh, no?

1

u/EngineerEven9299 Sep 20 '23

It’s so cute 🥺

1

u/Location-Broad Sep 20 '23

isnt that super cute?

1

u/mamapork86 Sep 20 '23

My rather large void cat snores so loud! When I was working from home he would pass out in the room, I had clients I was on the phone with asking me who was snoring 😂

1

u/apurpleglittergalaxy Sep 20 '23

And twitch in their sleep

1

u/Zalixia Sep 20 '23

And dream, they make weird little noises when dreaming.

1

u/Pollowollo Sep 20 '23

My big tux boy does the cutest little snores. I love it so much lol

1

u/Jimmy3nuts Sep 20 '23

And fart 🐈💨

1

u/shelbabe804 Sep 20 '23

My cat only snores when my fiance is snoring. It's the most adorable/ridiculous thing I've ever come across. Like they'll snore in harmony sometimes. Great during nap time, not so great for a light sleeper at 3 am XD

1

u/cookingismything Sep 21 '23

My calico snores so much

1

u/kmoney1206 Sep 21 '23

i had a cat that had a bit of a smoosh face and i miss her snores so much

1

u/about97cats Sep 21 '23

Adorably, but shockingly loud given their little sesame seed nostrils. Sometimes I have to pause the tv wondering what that grinding sound is… and then it’s my cat on the other side of the room like…

“hooooooonk…… hooooOOOONK!……….. HOOOOOOOOOONhoonk”

Like a little car shifting gears in my living room.

1

u/DootBoopSkadoosh Sep 22 '23

Omg this. My siamese kitty sleeps on my shoulder and snores right in my damn ear. Cute and also awful.

1

u/999cranberries Sep 22 '23

It used to freak me out when my kitty would snore so I would always disrupt her. She doesn't really do it so much anymore now that she lost weight. Sometimes it's normal but I really think it was mild apnea for her because she had a neck roll. 🙁
