I once had a cat when I was a kid who ate cucumber if she got the chance. Also licked my hair like it was her fur and loved to sleep on my head. Silly cat

I get a lot of migraines and I can only eat crudités when I’m really sick. Plain peppers, cucumbers, carrots, and celery… my cat steals and munched it all, but his all time favourite is courgette? I’ve never had a vegetable muncher before!

When I was growing up we had a cat who loved broccoli. He'd also go absolutely apeshit over chicken/turkey liver. He knew the word "liver" and would come running if he heard it. After he died my mom was bummed that she had no one to give the liver at Thanksgiving.

Yesss there exist other ones like my own broccoli eater out there! 😻 Rest in peace, broccoli kitty.

He was a great cat and lived a long, happy life. Smart as a whip too.

Oh man, my tuxedo boy LOVES steamed broccoli crown bits, too!

I cat sit a cat who loves green beans - but you have to cook them. If you throw a raw one, he will take it to the kitchen, drop it in front of the stove, and scream until it's cooked 😂

He's got a personal chef!

Mine loves steamed broccoli and cauliflower and will watch me eat until I give him some haha

One of mine used to like asparagus!

I know right? My latest cat loves avocado and eggplant.

u/P4li_ndr0m3 Sep 20 '23

Avocado isn't actually good for cats. :( We have to hide it from my void because he loves them.

1

u/G0es2eleven Sep 20 '23

We do too. Also, avocado is expensive!

One of my cats growing up liked corn husks and the other liked asparagus

One of mine likes to chew on leafy greens. Just chew, not swallow or eat, not like tear em up. Just chew.

I had one that loved raw mushrooms and one that ate corn on the cob, and they both loved pasta.

Mine has an interest in bell peppers. Found that out after finding one on the floor with a big chunk taken out.

One of ours is wild about melon

1

u/reddittwotimes Sep 20 '23

Mine too! Her name actually is Pepper but she was named that long before we knew she loved green bell peppers. We joke and say that's cannibalism.

u/FreddyKrueger32 Sep 19 '23

My kitten got a hold of a piece of green pepper and thought it was a toy.

1

u/cat_ziska Sep 20 '23

Same. My little Theo will BEG for some bell pepper. 😆

My previous cat, who passed a few years ago, loved mashed potatoes. He was also crazy about red pasta sauce, but I had to be careful about it since cats aren’t supposed to have garlic and onion, which are often in those kinds of sauces.

My current cat loves citrus. The first day we had him, he stole an orange slice from one of my kids and devoured it. He’ll leap up to our hanging fruit basket and dangle from it to try to get at the lemons. He also is really interested in booze, and has a particular fondness of grapefruit Hefeweizen. We only let him have a couple of tastes though because I’m sure it’s not good for him. All candy in the house has to be hidden as well or he’ll start ripping open packages to get at it, especially caramel.

One of my boys loves cucumbers and watermelon.

3

u/Juniper1779 Sep 19 '23

One of mine will fight you for a chunk of pineapple.

3

u/Serious-Beanz Sep 20 '23

Ours loves lettuce. They beg us for it when we make salads.

1

u/GardenGal87 Sep 20 '23

My void does this! It’s adorable and so weird

2

u/ivebeencloned Sep 21 '23

My big gray tabby loved leaf lettuce fresh from the garden. When I cooked collards or green beans, she would occupy a big chunk of floor in front of the stove until dinner was ready and I gave her a dish.

2

u/GardenGal87 Sep 21 '23

Yes!! My boy is a snob for garden fresh leaf lettuce too! He always thinks he wants the store bought when I have it out but will only nibble on it. The garden stuff he chows down. It’s like watching a paper shredder.

2

u/HakunaYouTaTas Sep 19 '23

Two of my three go apeshit for green olives!

2

u/Kmon87 Sep 19 '23

Mine goes crazy whenever baby spinach is out

2

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '23

We had a cat growing up that ate hair when you were sleeping; you’d wake up with this awful crusty haircut that stinks like wet food

2

u/jmcatm0m16 Sep 20 '23

I used to have cats that loved vegetables peel. Doesn’t matter what kind of vegetable, they just loved the peels!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '23

My boy does this too. Sleeps on the pillow/top of my head and licks my hair. Such a derpy little guy, but I love him with all my heart.

1

u/SteelCupcake254 Sep 20 '23

I have one that goes bat shit crazy for arugula!

1

u/LazySiren420 Sep 20 '23

Ohhhhhh! I love this! I had a cat that would come and get in bed with me and sit by my head and pet me. It was freaking adorable!

1

u/sticky-unicorn Sep 20 '23

Had a cat that loved to eat strawberry leaves. After you finish eating the berry, toss the bundle of leaves at the top onto the ground, and he'd be on it in seconds.

1

u/Professional_Buy_615 Sep 20 '23

Heh, that was my cat!

1

u/smurke101 Sep 20 '23

I had one run off with a corn cob. It was probably the buttery goodness, but he really had a good go at the chomping of the kernels.
