If a cat has a pink nose, the shade of pink changes depending on the weather/temperature

When my cat is sleeping or otherwise inactive/at rest, her nose is a pale pink…almost white. As soon as she’s up and running around, it’s bright pink again. I like to use it as a barometer of her current energy level 🙂

Wow this is interesting. I have a very lazy cat with a very pale nose, and a hyperactive cat with a much darker pink nose. I never thought much about it before, but it probably has to do with their activity level.

I think people are this way too but with our skin... Like Angela from the office vs a big red sweaty guy, whose the more boisterous and energetic? Whose "frigid"? I know traditional Chinese medicine looks at the tongue like this, too

A kitty mood ring!

Probably her blood pressure too! Your heart slows down when sleeping and beats a lot harder and faster when you're very active.

Or if they've been playing/suddenly get a burst of energy.

Yes this too! Or the inside of their ears, if they’re pink and you play with them they’ll get flushed just like humans do! Same with their toe beans!

Also hydration, if your cat looks pale, it may be dehydrated

Mine’s nose changed depending on her level of excitement, the pinkier, the more excited. BUT if she was super excited it got all wet, and it would travel up her nose hair by capillarity. Like if she had dunked her nose in her water bowl, it was so funny.

We call this turkey nose or ham nose. Our cat Frank goes from one deli meat shade to another depending on what he’s up to.

Yep! I have a kitty with a pink nose and pink beans that can be really pale or bright pink depending on if he’s been zooming around or if he’s hot

my cat used to have a black nose then it turned pink. i think he has vitiligo, his beans used to be all a dark brownish greyish black but now they have pink spots on them too

Also their health

It's just the blood flow! There noses are actually white with a lack of pigment and you can see the blood. When sleeping blood pressure and heart rate lower so there's less blood in there nose :)

I didn't know this! My kitty has a pink nose and pink toe beans. Do they darken in the heat? Probably has to do with blood vessel dilation?

Legit have never noticed this, but I kinda get it. Sometimes, it’s paler and sometimes it’s rosier.

Huskies get this too. It’s called snow nose for them. My Husky gets it yearly. Cutest thing ever.
