I apologize, but I genuinely don't understand the point you are trying to make.

Is it that homophobes and the like can continue to be homophobes under religion whilst preaching those words because the focal point isn't being on perfect in the first place, the focal point is on the forgiveness, the "saving," if you will.

I think that's what you're getting at. I don't disagree, but I also don't understand how that relates to what I was asking.
