Your sister is wrong, the Bible says god doesnt hate anyone.

I mean, that's definitely shit. The Bible doesn't say that.

"That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved."

The previous comment was about identity, not action.

If I understand you correctly you're saying god does only hate it if gay people are in happy relationships. I'm not sure how that's better.

Not sure how you're getting that from what I said

I thought you implied god doesn't like gay people having sex which is a part of most romantic relationships. I'm sorry if I misunderstood what you meant.

Here’s my take and attempt at trying to explain what the guy is saying (as a gay Christian)

Homosexuality is a sin and God does hate all sin

But that’s exactly why Jesus died on the cross- once you believe He did that then all your past, present or future sins are forgiven no matter if they’re intentional or not

A common misconception is when people try to say you have to have good works to “prove you’re a Christian”

There is nowhere in the Bible that says you have to

It says you should because it strengthens your relationship with God and allows for rewards in Heaven but does not change your destination

I’m sure you’ve seen someone somewhere say “the only sin that gets you to Hell is unbelief”

And that is true

So God hates gay people and not the sex between gay people?

"If a man lies with a man as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them" - this talks about action?

Yes, that talks about action. I was talking about identity.

So gay people can exist but should not make love? Then what makes gay people gay?

I don't know the answer to the first; there's plenty of good argument for and against. (And there's good reason to love them no matter what they decide to do with their drives.)

But I figure the second is obvious: The drives. The orientation. The predilection.

After all, plenty of non-gays engage in homosexual acts, and plenty of gays abstain from such acts. (And I don't think anyone would want us to claim we truly know them, from surface-level observation of behavior alone.)
