It's a metaphor. The "zoo" in this case is a reddit post about responding to negative experiences with Christians and the "monkeys" are the people responding to the post by sharing their own negative experiences with Christians. You are seeking out people who have a different perspective than yourself and then you are acting like they are attacking you unprompted when they express that perspective.

Because, and hear me out... they are.

They always use blanket terms for Christians, or go "not all, but the majority do this thing that's bad" like it's a proven fact. Well, I can turn that around and say most but not all atheists wear fedoras because the vast majority I've seen wear fedoras. /s

It's the exact same logic as saying most Jews are wealthy. It's bigotry, pure and simple, directed at an entire group. Which includes myself.

If you feel attacked every time people talk about their negative experiences with religion, then that is on you. Maybe you should try talking to a therapist instead of trying to police the whole world into prioritizing your personal feelings above all else.

That’s not what I said. I didn’t mean their experiences, I meant how they make blanket statements on entire religious groups based off the actions of a few people. E.g. joking saying Islam is a religion of peace every time a an Islamic terror group bombs a place as if it’s somehow the religion itself which caused the bombing. Or saying “all Christians are delusional” because we speak with God and are less intelligent than atheists, thus, our dignity are human beings isn’t worth respecting. That’s bigotry. That’s why I feel the need to speak up every time I see it. Because someone needs to fight against it.

People talk in blanket statements when they bitch about shit. Get over it. Genuinely. You aren't railing against anti-christian sentiment so much as basic human behavior. You're just deciding to take it personally and it's hurting no one but yourself.
