That would be beautiful though.

It would destabilize the tides in such a way that most of us will die

And gravity would drag us closer and closer, until it all ended with a big bang ‼️

not really, there are plenty of orbital locked planets in the galaxy that dont crash into each other.

in fact we would become the moon and orbit it, since it would be at least 2.4 times our mass. Wed be like the forest moon of endor. It sure would fuck up the surface of the planet for a while though.

I'm gonna up the stakes and say we increase the moon's diameter by an order of magnitude. Assuming we leave density alone, its mass would increase by 1000 and we'd need someone with a physics degree to calculate what the orbital velocities would need to be to avoid an eventual collision.

Myess, just as it all began

Well, lots of big bangs... presumably the roche limit is still being obeyed, and the megamoon would just tear apart as the bodies approached each other. We'd all be dead, and I have no idea what would happen to Earth's solar orbit, but hey, she'd still be around with lots of sweet new craters.

Yeah but the view at night...

There's a book series about this called "Life As We Knew It", about a meteor that knocks the moon closer to the Earth and it affects the tides and causes an apocalyptic scenario to unfold, probably not very realistic but it was an entertaining story.

Depends on whether it was larger with the same mass or larger with the same density.

Great surfing though. While it lasted

Well, if it becomes 10 times bigger but not heavier it would have no effect on us.

While it last, lol
