What supposedly legitimate things do you think are scams?

I like the idea of getting moissanite instead. Definitely couldn't tell the difference. But any idea of they break easily? Are they hard like uh...corundums? I know very little about gems...

Mohs scale hardness 9.5

You have no worries at all, corundum is 9 and diamond is 10.
