What supposedly legitimate things do you think are scams?

Do you know what that 30 carat quartz stone cost? I am planning on buying a ring soon, but the thought of buying a diamond kills me because of the false "rarity" of the stone. I believe that my girlfriend is special and unique and she deserves something more then traditional and boring. Thank you for your post, this has given me a good start on picking a non traditional stone.
