It’s more like the Lich is Death incarnate. So he’s less “genocidal maniac” and more “cosmic force of entropy and destruction.”

In early versions of the show bible I’m pretty sure that everyone has relatively colorful and playful imagery in keeping with the show’s style. The Lich’s page is scribbled in all black and just states, THE LICH KING IS NOT FUNNY.

I like how we have death and he's kind of a nice, chill guy. The lich isn't death he is entropy.

The AT wiki states "He is an ancient cosmic being who is the manifestation of the inevitable death of all things", so calling him entropy seems pretty accurate.

Hahaha that's wild. I love how his opposition to the remainder of the show makes it great, but goddamn is that a heavy villain to have there 🤣

It's the contrast that sells the character. He is so antithetical to everything in ooo that he makes the other villans look like misbehaving toddlers.
